Our Co-Pastors
Quaker Meadows is fortunate to have the services of co-pastors. Here is some information on each of them:

Tamika Garrison

I am blessed to be called to the congregation of Quaker Meadows. I have been called to ministry since a very young age, and excited to hear the call of God and explore new challenges in my faith journey. I am a wife, mother, and champion for my family. I work part time at my family's restaurant and enjoy being active in our community. God reveals new and exciting opportunities to me in every aspect of life and the most significant mission I believe we have is our discipleship opportunities within our community of faith. I am looking forward to the growth and mission opportunities that we have ahead of us as a faith family at Quaker Meadows Presbyterian Church.

Rick Leissner

I was born and raised Roman Catholic - faithful altar boy and all that. I graduated from Wofford College and took some graduate classes at UNC-CH. In 1972, I married my high school sweetheart, Janet. We have two sons, Richard and John, and four precious grandchildren (in eastern NC). I had a 27-year textile career, followed by 12 years in human services, mostly serving people with special needs and providing vocational case management services. In 1987, God led us to leave the Catholic Church, and we were warmly welcomed by the PCUSA church in Roxboro, NC. A year later I was Deacon, and 3 years later an Elder! I ended up being an officer at four churches around the state. I enjoyed teaching adult Sunday School and related activities. It became increasingly evident that I truly loved preaching worship leadership, and was provided a number of opportunities fill the pulpit, which was extremely meaningful on my faith journey. A huge turning point came in July of 2014 – basically, I broke my neck in a car accident. Most people with my injuries and complications either die or are paralyzed, so I felt extremely blessed and grateful, concluding God wasn’t through with me yet! God strongly called me to get more involved in church, our presbytery, and serving others. The Holy Spirit guided me to look closer at preaching and pastoral care - perhaps becoming a CP. Church Leadership School was another key part of my spiritual journey. I also did significant pulpit supply at a number of smaller PCUSA churches. Then God called me to Co-pastor Quaker Meadows in fall of 2020. I feel very blessed to be commissioned; I love preaching and growing my pastoral care activities in a more “credentialed” way. I feel very blessed. This was the right call, at the right time, and at the right place – Quaker Meadows is such a wonderful part of the Body of Christ; plus being blessed with a wonderful partner in ministry, Co-pastor Tamika Garrison.
